Commission Requests

Commission requests let buyers ask OpenStuds sellers for custom digital MOC work. This guide explains the buyer and seller workflow, payments, private delivery, and public-release permissions.

1
What Commission Requests Are
Commission requests are for custom digital MOC design work from sellers who choose to accept them. They cover digital instruction files, images, parts-list data, and related design deliverables, not physical bricks, boxed sets, or shipping.
2
Buyer Flow
Buyers start from a seller profile or the seller's direct commission link, such as /c/username. The request includes a title, brief, budget, desired deadline, reference links, and whether the buyer allows public release after completion. OpenStuds then opens or reuses a direct message thread with the seller.
3
Seller Quote Flow
The seller can discuss, accept, decline, or cancel while the workflow allows it. When accepting, the seller sets the final price, starting payment percentage, starting payment mode, expected delivery date, and an acceptance note. The acceptance note should confirm scope, timeline, file expectations, revision expectations, and any special rights.
4
Starting And Final Payments
The starting payment can be 0% to 80% of the quoted final price. It can be credited toward the final payment or charged as an extra start fee. Starting payments are non-refundable by default once paid, except where law requires a refund or OpenStuds chooses an admin support remedy. The final payment becomes available after the seller uploads the commissioned files and marks them ready.
5
Private Delivery
Commission delivery creates a private commissioned MOC. The seller uploads images, instruction files, and XML files through the commission upload flow. The buyer receives private access after the final payment is confirmed.
6
Public Release
Sellers can publish a completed commissioned MOC as a normal public listing only when the buyer allows it. The buyer can allow public release in the original request, or the seller can ask for approval after completion.
