About this build

This MOC has been verified as buildable by its designer.

Built for fans of racing legends and iconic design, this 8-stud-wide LEGO Plymouth Superbird captures the unmistakable silhouette of Richard Petty’s #43 racecar in stunning detail. Based on the same vehicle that dominated NASCAR in the early ’70s, this version takes full advantage of the larger Speed Champions scale to deliver more accuracy, more detail, and even more fun building techniques.

From the aggressive nose cone to the towering rear spoiler, this model uses advanced building methods including SNOT construction, brackets, modified bricks and plates, and several clever connections to replicate the Superbird’s aerodynamic profile and bold stance.

Decals are not included with your purchase of the instruction files. To bring the build to life, I’ve teamed up with two incredibly talented creators: Decals were designed by design_by_gergo and printed by Forwart Sticker— you can grab the full decal set here to complete the look with Richard Petty’s signature livery and race-day details.

If you're a fan of the updated 8-wide Speed Champions scale, this build fits perfectly alongside other modern LEGO supercars, racers, and classics. Prefer a more compact version? A 6-wide version is also available, scaled for tight city builds and vintage Speed Champions vibes.

Whether it’s for display or to tear up your LEGO racetrack, this Superbird is a high-performance tribute to a true American icon!

*Note: The windscreen sits 1 plate lower than the hood of the car. I did this to represent the height of the real vehicle as close as possible. Because of this the roof sits slight angled upward on top of the windscreen. It still sits 2 minifig comfortably, but this is an illegal connection. If you want you can place a single 1x6 plate underneath the windscreen, but it will raise the roof line of the car.
