The Razor Crest, introduced in The Mandalorian and flown by Din Djarin aka "Mando", quickly became a fan favourite, including myself. A loveable "hunk of junk" that's still sleek and agile, and provides a home for Din as he travels the galaxy with Grogu.
After several years of tinkering with my 75292 Razor Crest and being inspired by the many other mocs I’ve seen, I think I’ve finally finished my Razor Crest! Designed to be a highly detailed "UCS" playscale model at 1:55 scale, I’m really happy with how it’s turned out. Accurate proportions and details while not costing as much or taking up as much room as the full UCS set. It’s much heavier than the original playscale set and admittedly there are a few fragile areas, but it’s perfectly swooshable, has plenty of details, and some play features on top of being a great display piece. Though most of my pictures here are renderings, I absolutely have the physical set built but can't take as clean of pictures as in Studio.
There’s almost no part of the original set that I haven’t replaced or upgraded; not sure I can even call it a modified set or if it’s just a MOC at this point. Those who have the set will have some of the parts for this build (especially the expensive windscreen part) but it’s certainly not necessary to buy the set first if you start the build from scratch. 75292 provides 25% of the parts for this build.
I’ve extended the length of the ship by 4 studs, gave it bigger engines, a detailed cockpit, and an interior with armoury, vac tube, carbon freezing station, and storage. Heavily recoloured and designed for accuracy as much as possible at this scale. The escape pod has been lowered but is still functional. Landing gear fully supports the ship but is not retractable.
I designed it to display on its landing gear which has held up just fine for over 2 years. I haven’t created a dedicated stand but I was using Jeffy-O’s Razor Crest stand when taking "in-flight" pictures, though I reinforced it a bit as my ship weigh likely twice as much as the original set. I’m sure most sturdy Razor Crest or LAAT stands would work with it. In “flight mode” I added trans-red 1x1 round plates to the front for its lights as well as a 2x6 plate, 2x2 tiles, 2x3 tile, and 2x2 curved slope for filling in the gaps in the landing gear bulkheads. I included the parts in the part list but didn't add it into the instructions.
Model Dimensions Length: 17.5” / 44.5cm (1:55 scale) Width: 12.5” / 31.75cm (1:52 scale) Height (on landing gear): 7” / 17.8cm (1:48 scale)
I will have a separate build/instructions (won’t charge for both separately) for a movie version yet, but I’m waiting on the new canopy from the new 75447 set to be available. The vast majority of the build will be the same as this, with a few different parts and colours to get the design/colouring right. I also prefer to delay releasing it until I see the movie in case there are any specific ship features that are present or missing compared to the original from the show. I’ll make some final tweaks to the design and can launch that in late May or June. Then you can have the choice of which version you prefer, or both if you’d like!
The part list does include the weapons I used for the armoury. The one blaster and knife can be expensive in these colours, you can of course replace them with whatever you'd like Din to have.
I hope you enjoy the build and adding a detailed and wonderfully sized Razor Crest as part of your collection!
This is the way!
