About this build

This MOC has been verified as buildable by its designer.

The Razor Crest has returned!

I, like many others, was devastated at the destruction of Din Djarin’s lovable, forever broken ship in late season 2. I was ecstatic to see its return in the new Mandalorian and Grogu, and with a few changes. A more pristine build with some brighter yellow paint and a less modified, cleaner interior. I honestly can’t decide which I prefer, I love them both!

A few months ago I posted my very first Moc, the original Razor Crest, where I was aiming for a larger, detailed, playscale UCS-like build at 1:55 scale. Better proportions, size, and details than Lego’s play sets but more affordable and easier to display than the huge 1:34 scale UCS set.

Since seeing the Mandalorian & Grogu trailers and eventually the film, I’ve slowly been tweaking that moc into my new movie version. Took longer than expected because I was hoping Studio would provide the new yellow canopy from 75447 but it hasn’t, and I lost my original digital file for the last razor crest so I had to start instructions from scratch.

Full disclosure, these two models of mine are 86.4% the same ship/parts. At their heart was originally the 75292 set that has been heavily modified time and time again to the point that nearly all of it has been upgraded. It’s not modified off of the new 75447 set, which was simply too small for me to build off of, at 1:80 scale. That said, you’ll want the canopy and cone from that set to get the look right. You may choose to use the stickers too, I’m not a sticker guy so I did my best to create the paint job with parts. I haven't bought the new set yet to try it but it may look really cool with the 75447 stickers added.

I hope you like it! My pictures are all renders from Studio but I do have the original show version physically built so I know it’s very possible to build, and is sturdy. The landing gear have been holding it up for a few years without issue; there are a few more delicate areas of the ship for sure but it’s still plenty swooshable and makes a fantastic display landed or in flight mode!

I don’t have a dedicated stand for it but most durable stands for razor crests or gunships should do the trick. I included in the part list the few extra pieces to have it in flight mode. The landing gear are not retractable unfortunately but they’re strong and look good.

Changes from my previous original moc:

  • Tile changes to accommodate the different paint job. I also used standard yellow instead of the bright orange from the last one.

  • New yellow canopy and windscreen

  • Changed the colour of the cockpit seats from dark red to dark tan. I had to create brick built seats as the standard seat piece doesn’t come in this colour.

  • Small modification to cockpit display.

  • Upgraded the bunk area.

  • Changed the flooring of the cargo area in the back to a cleaner, tiled look.

  • Removed the armoury, locker, extra crate, carbon freezing station and frozen bounty.

  • Added a bench and computer in the back.

  • Shortened the length of the engines by one brick by using a different stud reversal method. This looks better proportioned now.

  • New side doors with an extending ramp. I’ll admit the bar pieces don’t fit tightly with this method but it works great and looks cool.

  • Simplified the tiling design on the back ramp.

  • Small change to the missile launcher part of the guns.

Because of the overall similarities of the two versions, and the fact that some of these upgrades probably should’ve been on the original version anyway, I will be offering both sets of instructions for the one fee. Anyone who bought the original instructions and wants the new ones (either to build a separate new one, transition to the new one, or incorporate some upgrades) please reach out and I’ll gladly send it to you. I have not yet come up with a specific part list for what you’d need to convert from the old to the new. Alternatively if you buy the new one and want instructions for the old model, I'm happy to send those. The major benefit there would be some of the features (carbon freezing station, armoury, etc.) but otherwise the new one is improved.

Model Dimensions Length: 17.5” / 44.5cm (1:55 scale) Width: 12.5” / 31.75cm (1:52 scale) Height (on landing gear): 7” / 17.8cm  (1:48 scale)

Hope you enjoy this moc as much as I do!
