I always loved playing the piano and the fact that in Star Wars it’s so unrepresented made me think about how a piano look would like in that galaxy far-far away.

The only canonical example that we have of such an instrument is that weird floating contraption shown in The Last Jedi with a double-row keyboard, something that reminded me of harpsichords. I must admit that, even if it’s very well designed, I really don’t like it, so I decided to create my own starting exactly from a harpsichord shape.

I didn’t want an industrial product that looked like something spawned from the 60es or the Jetsons cartoon, I wanted a true handcrafted masterpiece with lacquered wooden panels and so I thought: “In which planet could such a piano be crafted?”. It had to be a classy planet, full of art and beauty… and so Naboo it was! For this very reason, the side panels are decorated with Naboo motifs as the so-called Royal Crest – a hint to the fact that this piano was crafted by a Klaviermacher sanctioned by the crown itself! I also did that to pay homage to the rich decorations of the harpsichords of yore.
